1. Not very impressed...

   Frankly the Rubbermaid product is a much better product and does the job of "lettuce keeping" much better.

   As someone noted the plastic bottom lid for this item does tend to warp even in the top rack of the dishwasher as it is very soft.
   
   I would suggest getting used to the following ritual if you want to add water to the bottom.
   
   Put in a little bit of water in the bottom.
   Tilt the Lettuce Keeper to one side, then the other.
   If it leaks, the seal on the bottom is not fastened tight.
   Put the keeper on a flat surface and push down, to try to get the bottom to fasten correctly.
   Repeat the tilting motion again.
   Expect to spill a bit of water until you have a tight seal, so have a dish cloth or towel nearby or tilt it over the sink.
   Repeat until no water leaks out and then hope that you don't jostle it loose on the way to the fridge after you have it filled.
   
   Just a bit too much of a headache to deal with.
   
   The oblong shape allows for storing heads of leaf lettuce, but if they are very full heads, you'll have to trim the leaves from the core anyway.
   
   The only advantage with this item is that there is a listing on the front plastic that tries to tell you for different types of produce to use with "vent open" or "vent closed"; "with water" or "without"
   
   So I'm not very impressed by this product. The quality is quite inferior compared to the Rubbermaid product line, and it shows.

2. Keeps greens fresh

   This product works as advertised to keep greens fresher than leaving them in a closed plastic bag in the fridge, and a little better than keeping them in the fridge's crisper or greens-keeper. There is nothing high-tech or revolutionary about it, but it allows you to keep a small amount of water in the bottom (without touching the contents) to prevent greens from drying out, an it has vents to allow some air circulation to help prevent spoilage from too much moisture. I use it primarily to provide extra space for greens in addition to the fridge's two built-in crispers. Actually, I wish it were larger, in which case it would be ideal for vegetarians who keep lots of fresh veggies on hand. It also has a removable divider, which is nice for when you have small amounts of two different greens to keep.

   After listening to the other reviews, I took a chance and tried this. It is excellent! It keeps lettuce fresh far longer than any other products I've tried. It's a great size for green leaf or romaine lettuce too. I definitely recommend this product.

   Love this multi purpose keeper! My veggies and fruits stay fresh for soo much longer. It even has different types of things and how to store them of the outside by the vent. I would recommend or buy as a gift.

5. It keeps lettuce FRESH!

   I have to admit, I was skeptical. But the fact was, I was desperate because I buy a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables on the local market days - and it has to last until the next market day! This little gem does exactly what it says (why can't all products be this great???) and keeps the lettuce crisp and fresh for about a week. I'm ordering the other smaller keepers for other fruits and veggies. LOVE IT! The only thing I would say is, I wish it were offered in other colors.
