Well constructed, no so well designed

I have a lot of Oxo gear in my kitchen because it's a brand you can (almost) always rely on to be best in it's class...great build quality, great performance, great design. This colander gets two out of three. It's sturdy, it drains well, the rubberized rim is convenient for lifting. My beef with the thing, and the part that drives me CRAZY every time I use it is the design of the little peg feet. It's terrible. Even though they're supposed to be 'non skid', in my stainless steel sink, it slides around a puppy on ice. On top of that, the feet are SO SHORT than when you pour your, for example, pot of pasta and water, into the thing, the water doesn't go down the drain fast enough and ends up getting 'backed up' onto the pasta sitting in the colander. Can you say "unsanitary!"? There needs to be more space between the bottom of the colander and the sink. It's a surprising design blunder by a company otherwise known for excellent design. After a couple months, I ended up getting the Tovolo, which has a better circular base design - and is also larger, which is a bonus.

Very sturdy and well made. Another fine product from the makers of OXO. The perfect size for rinsing sprouts or small fruits.
A Useful Addition

A 5-qt colander is often just too big, and this product has proven to be more than adequate for the majority of needs for 3 people. The surface is smooth on both sides and easy to clean. I give it only 4 stars because I would have liked to see welded stainless feet, not these glued-on (steel?, aluminum?). I can use my all-stainless colander with hot cooking oil, but cannot use this one because of the feet - not a big deficiency.
excellent, great quality

very good material, does not rust, good grips, stand alone, good size and smooth pores, a little expensive but worth the price.
Perfect for small meals

This colander has been just what I needed, small enough not to take a lot of space and big enough to hold what I need it to. Its a fairly small colander, so don't get it if you need to hold more than 2-3 pounds of beef or a lot of pastas and vegetables. I use it to rinse ground beef a lot and its good because all the meat stays in. So far the colander has not rusted even though I have put let it sit in the sink over night. Also it does well in the dishwasher. It is a great sturdy colander to have.
