I searched online and in stores for a good kitchen scale that was reasonably priced. The EatSmart Precision Pro received good reviews and was the lowest priced model (significantly lower than what I was seeing in various stores). I bought it and am very happy with it. Set up was very easy (this is my first digital kitchen scale). It's lightweight and a great size, making it easy to slip into and out of a cabinet rather than taking up counter space unnecessarily. I love the tare option - I don't have to weigh the container first and then subtract, etc. The digital display is nicely sized. Another plus, the scale comes with a nice little booklet that shows you how to use the scale for calorie-counting if you're watching your calories. This makes calorie counting easier, especially if you're trying a new recipe where they don't include such information.
All in all, I'm very happy with it.

This is a great little scale. It has a nice, large platform that holds all the dishes and bowls I use easily, a nice large, easily read display that can display in any units I need it to (oz, g, lb, kg). The tare feature works exactly how you'd expect it to, and it's quite fast, making it easy to use, even when adding a lot of ingredients one at a time.
It also comes with a small guide to measuring portions and calories, but it's not that great, and you're better off finding better information online.

I had some doubt when I purchased it but I was wrong.
This little unit is very realiable and cost effective.
I have been using it over a half year and have not encountered problems.

I kept telling myself I didn't need a kitchen scale; I'd made do without one just fine for many years. I am loving this scale. No more guessing. My last reason for holding out was I didn't want yet another something I'd need to keep out on my counter. I don't. It is stored in the cabinet directly above the counter where I use it -- convenient, so I don't hesitate to use it. Also, I use one of those vinyl-covered metal racks over the top of short staples (baking soda, baking powder, etc.) so it doesn't take up any more space inside the cabinet.
