Krups Beertender NOT Cool
Date: 2010-08-11
Customer Rating:

I have had the B90 Krups Beertender for a little over a year, but only used it seasonally at the beach. Used it for 3-4 kegs last summer, got into the second keg this summer and the unit died, not cooling, just warm beer! Called for help...out of warranty and you can only send to a service center for an estimate and repair. The shipping alone makes this prohibitive as ther are only 3-4 service centers in the USA anyway. Furthermore Krups does not consider the unit consumer repairable. All that is inside is a simple power supply and 1 circuit card. Send those to me and I will fix it myself....NO CAN DO! So I am without beer, dying a slow summer death. Certainly the last Krups product I will buy...going back to quart bottles and brown paper bags...no more high life for me :-(

No matter what I try, I get 80%-90% foam. I have tried trouble shootig, from letting it sit 48hours to over a week. temp is good, hoses are tight, it just likes to put out foam.
so if you don't mind pulling a glass of foam, this machine is for you. otherwise, just spend the mone and get a real kegorator.
Nice for small parties

I ordered one of these when they were priced at $95.00 from one of Amazon's suppliers. It works fine, and holds just about enough beer to get you through a small party, provided there are not too many heavy beerdrinkers in attendance. If you have guests that really savor draft beer, though, it's no big deal to keep a spare keg in the refrig. The unit looks good on the kitchen counter as well. The downside is that they are now offered at $199.95 and are no longer a smart buy at that price, because there's now less costly alternatives being sold. Also, you need to order the tubes, and Amazon offers a few alternatives. Beware, though, that some involve paying over $60 for a pack of 10 of these one-use tubes. Since the tubes are plastic, not solid gold, be sure to get the ones priced at $9, and not $69. These units take only one style of keg. The range of choices may be improving, though. My supermarket now stocks Heineken regular and light, as well as Newcastle dark ale. I suspect that if Budweiser and/or Coors Light were available in these kegs, both this type of unit as well as the kegs would fly off the sellers' shelves. I'm glad I've got mine. I only wish I had bought another before the price doubled.

This is a great small "keg a rator" if you understand it's limitations. Only three beers make mini kegs to fit it. Heineken, Heineken Light and Newcastle. Newcastle kegs are very hard to find. It only works in an air conditioned place. Above 76 degrees and it reads "orange" or the beer is not cool enought. You have to mail order the special tubes needed to use it. I buy mine from Amazon. It's best to keep the replacement keg in a refrigerator as it takes forever to cool one in the Beer Tender. I like mine but Krups needs to do some work and get other beer companies to support the draught keg. And last but not least, mine keeps running out of beer! Especially, during the summer, college football games, baseball games, the superbowl and other thirsty events.
